Page Moderation Extension - User Guide
📋 Overview
The Page Moderation Extension is a professional tool for systematic website evaluation and error reporting. It enables moderators to efficiently track time, evaluate pages, and generate comprehensive reports of their moderation activities.
🚀 Installation
Step 1: Install from Chrome Web Store
Search for "Page Moderation Plugin" in the Chrome Web Store and click "Add to Chrome".
Step 2: Pin Extension to Toolbar
After installation, pin the extension to your toolbar for easy access:
- Click the Extensions icon (puzzle piece 🧩) in the Chrome toolbar
- Find "Page Moderation" in the list
- Click the pin icon (📌) next to it
- The extension icon will now appear directly in your toolbar
Step 3: Grant Permissions
The extension will request the following permissions:
- Access to all websites: Required for the moderation panel to work on any site
- Storage access: To save your settings and session data locally
- Context menus: For right-click menu on extension icon
Chrome Settings: Ensure that "Allow access to file URLs" is enabled if you need to moderate local HTML files (chrome://extensions → Page Moderation → Details → Allow access to file URLs).
⚙️ Initial Setup
Access Settings
You can access settings in three ways:
- Click the extension icon in the toolbar
- Right-click the extension icon and select "Toggle Panel"
- Press Alt+M to open the panel directly
Configure Basic Settings
- Language: Choose English or Czech
- Theme: Select Light, Dark, or System (auto)
- URL Mode:
- Clean: Saves only domain and path (recommended)
- Full: Includes all URL parameters
Set Up Error Presets
Configure common error types for quick reporting:
- Add/remove/edit error preset labels
- Enable "Detail" checkbox for presets that need additional description
- Use Export/Import to backup or share preset configurations
Google Forms Integration (Optional)
Add your Google Forms URL to enable quick form access:
- Enter the complete URL of your Google Form
- The extension will open this form when you use the "Google Forms" export
Security Note: For security reasons, the extension cannot automatically fill form data. You'll need to manually copy and paste information from the results screen to your Google Form.
🎯 How to Use
1. Activate the Panel
Press Alt+M or right-click the extension icon and select "Toggle Panel" to show/hide the moderation panel on any webpage.
2. Start a Moderation Session
- Click "Start Session" in the panel
- The timer begins tracking your work time
- Session state is automatically saved and persists across page navigation
3. Evaluate Pages
Quick Actions:
- Quick OK: Click the green ✓ button or press Alt+O
- Quick Error: Click the red ! button or press Alt+E
Detailed Error Reporting:
- Quick Error opens a form with your configured presets
- Select relevant error types
- Add details for presets that require them
- Add custom error descriptions if needed
Duplicate Protection: The extension prevents evaluating the same URL twice within a session. If you try to evaluate an already processed URL, you'll see a warning message.
4. Session Management
- Pause: Click "Pause" or press Alt+P to pause timing
- Resume: Click "Resume" to continue
- End Session: Click "End" to finish and view results
5. Export Results
After ending a session, you can:
- Copy lists: Copy all pages or error pages to clipboard
- Download CSV: Export data as spreadsheet files
- JSON Backup: Download complete session data
- Google Forms: Open your configured form for manual entry
⌨️ Keyboard Shortcuts
- Alt+M - Toggle moderation panel
- Alt+P - Pause/Resume session
- Alt+O - Quick OK (when session is running)
- Alt+E - Quick Error (when session is running)
📊 Understanding Results
The results screen shows:
- Start Time: When the session began
- Total Time: Net working time (excluding pauses)
- Page Counts: OK pages, Error pages, Total pages
- Error Rate: Percentage of pages with errors
- Complete Lists: All evaluated URLs with error details
🔒 Privacy Policy
Data Storage: All data is stored locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to external servers.
Data Collection: The extension does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information outside of your local browser storage.
Google Forms: When you use the Google Forms integration, you are directly interacting with Google's services under their privacy policy.
